David at the Accademia Gallery – 1 Hour

David by Michelangelo & the Accademia Gallery – About 1 hour

Michelangelo’s most celebrated masterpiece, the iconic David, is the highlight of this world-renowned gallery and one of Florence’s greatest treasures.
During the tour, you will discover the fascinating story behind its creation and learn more about the genius of Michelangelo.

You’ll gain a deeper understanding of why David became the ultimate symbol of the Renaissance and one of the most influential sculptures in the history of art.

The Accademia Gallery is also home to several other remarkable works by Michelangelo, including the famous Prisoners (or Slaves). These unfinished sculptures are among the finest examples of the artist’s non finito (“unfinished”) technique. They appear to struggle as they emerge from the marble, offering a unique insight into Michelangelo’s creative process and his vision of figures being released from the stone itself.

Finally, did you know that the piano was invented in Florence? If not, this is yet another reason to join this tour. You’ll also visit the museum’s fascinating collection of historical musical instruments, where you can discover the origins of one of the world’s most beloved instruments.
