A Day in Siena – Full Day
Siena is one of the most popular and visited places in Tuscany and it is also my hometown! It is known throughout Italy for its distinguished medieval architecture. Upon arrival, explore its rich history and art, through its notable local monuments such as the famous seashell-shaped Piazza del Campo and the outstanding Siena Cathedral. Many local shops fill the historic streets of Siena, a great opportunity for you to taste local food or buy some gifts! Learn about the history of the contrada (districts) that challenge each other twice a year during Siena’s Palio horse race. Walk to one of the most typical contrada and immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere. Follow your guide to see one of the local pastry shops that reflect the glory of Italy in using the centuries-old recipes to make traditional Ricciarelli and Panforte.
You will have lunch in one of the oldest historical trattoria of the world and you taste the best dish of homemade pici (typical pasta of Siena). After lunch, you will have some free time before coming back to Florence.
